- Conflict of interest? Nothing to see here! The Pentagon is looking into renting a floor on Trump tower, at a cost of $1.5 million per year. Because the President is leaving them little choice. I wonder who benefits from this arrangement?
- Trump is using his presidential twitter account to attack Nordstrom for ditching his daughter's brand. He's justifiably taking a lot of flack for this other obvious conflict of interest.
- Spicer continues to lie through his teeth. This time, he's claiming terrorist attacks in Atlanta.
- More stories of international diplomacy are leaking out. This time, we're finding out about how conversations with France went. (Spoiler alert: badly!)
- The senate confirmed Sessions as Attorney General today. This marks a bleak day for American. The previous two Attorney Generals, Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, both brought honor to the position. I can't say the same about Sessions. There was also a little incident where Republicans used slavery-era rules to silence Elizabeth Warren for no particular reason.
- Two deeply chilling stories about "Just following orders". As was seen in Nazi Germany (and further in the famous Milgram experiment), you don't need monsters to follow your orders. Just ordinary people.
- People with a bit of knowledge of history are worrying about what Trump's reaction to a Reichstag Fire would be. The Reichstag Fire was the (likely orchestrated) incident in 1930's Germany that Hitler used to suspend civil liberties and strongly consolidate his power.
- Republicans continue to have their head firmly in the sand. From Autocracy USA: "Further indication that GOP is willing to overlook or allow any Trump excesses and power grabs, so long as it meets their political objectives."
